For the First Time: Interpol Arrests a Fugitive from Justice
The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has arrested a convicted fugitive wanted for justice in a precedent-setting case. The individual had been sentenced for the felony of sexual assault, following an official request from the Public Prosecution of the State of Palestine.
The Public Prosecution had circulated arrest warrants for the fugitive through the National Central Bureau (Palestinian Interpol), leading to the issuance of a Red Notice and its dissemination to all member states of the International Criminal Police Organization. Subsequently, Interpol apprehended the suspect at an international airport.
The Prosecution clarified that procedures are now underway to complete the legal steps for his extradition to the State of Palestine, where he will face the appropriate legal measures.
It is worth noting that Interpol approved Palestine’s membership on September 27, 2017, with 74 countries voting in favor.
