In an Expanded Meeting: The Palestinian Bar Association Meets with the Legal Team Representing the Republic of South Africa Before the International Court of Justice
The President of the Palestinian Bar Association, Attorney Fadi Abbas, along with members of the Bar Council—Attorneys Daoud Darawi, Rawya Abu Zuhairi, Mohammad Harini, and Louay Abu Jaber—as well as several former Presidents and Council members of the Bar Association and the Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, Dr. Ammar Dwaik, convened with Attorney Myron Dewrance, President of the General Council of the Bar of South Africa, and members of the legal team that represented the Republic of South Africa before the International Court of Justice. The team included Attorneys Adila Hassim, Max du Plessis, Sarah Pudifin-Jones, Tshidiso Ramogohli, Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, Lerato Zikalala, Islam Moosa, Shenaz Mahomed, Zamir Omar, and Byron Morris. The meeting was held via video conference.
President Abbas opened the meeting by expressing, on behalf of the Palestinian Bar Association and all Palestinian lawyers, profound gratitude and appreciation to the members of the legal team for their outstanding efforts in presenting and exposing the historical injustice endured by the Palestinian people and the ongoing genocide in Gaza before the Court.
The attendees from the Palestinian Bar Association praised the commendable efforts of the legal team and expressed pride in their supportive and principled stance towards Palestinian rights. Additionally, the attendees provided a brief overview of the ongoing daily aggression imposed on the Palestinian people, both in Gaza and the West Bank.
In turn, President Dewrance and Attorney Adila Hassim introduced the members of the legal team, all of whom expressed their happiness with this meeting and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in the legal arena, confronting decades-long historical injustices and genocide.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all participants agreed on the importance of building upon this encounter to foster future cooperation on all related legal matters.
