The President of the Palestinian Bar Association Meets with the President of the Irish Bar Association
The President of the Palestinian Bar Association, Attorney Fadi Abbas, met via video conference with the President of the Irish Bar Association, Attorney Barry MacCarthy; Attorney Gary Lee, Chair of the Association’s Human Rights and Equality Committee; and Attorney Gary Daly, a member of the Human Rights Committee.
Following a warm welcome, President Abbas provided an overview of the Palestinian Bar Association and the nature of its work, highlighting the state of comprehensive aggression faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and the devastating impacts, including the damage inflicted on the justice sector.
For his part, Attorney MacCarthy expressed his deep regret over the aggression being perpetrated in Gaza and its consequences, including the destruction of the Bar Association’s headquarters. Attorney Gary Lee also conveyed his solidarity with the Palestinian Bar Association and the Palestinian people amid the ongoing aggression.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on the importance of continuing dialogue to strengthen cooperation between the Association and the Bar, particularly in areas related to the promotion of human rights and various professional aspects.
